Teacher Training with Erasmus Plus Funding

If you’re a French, Spanish or German teacher what better way to improve your language teaching skills than to take a fully funded trip abroad? (Preferably somewhere nice and sunny)

Erasmus Plus Funding is the European Union’s initiative to increase skills and employability through training and education. The programme includes teacher training and is available to language teachers all over Europe. Cactus Language can arrange French, German and Spanish teacher training courses that are funded by Erasmus Plus Funding. The purpose of the Erasmus Plus funding is to fulfil the goal that every EU citizen should be able to speak a minimum of two foreign languages, with the aim of creating an international work force that can be fully mobilised. The EU will fund this training, learning and travel, on the basis of certain criteria being met. The EPF calls this ‘Mobility for School Staff’.

Funding Teacher Training

Erasmus + Funding will fund the professional development of teachers and school staff on training programmes abroad. This includes structured courses, training events, job shadowing and observations. Schools need to apply on behalf of the school staff. Applications will normally be submitted either by the Head of Languages or Head of Learning and Development at the school.

Funding for teacher training courses abroad is given if the training develops teaching skills in a way that cannot be achieved at home. For language training this is easy to demonstrate as courses typically promote immersion in the language (improving language skills) and promote familiarisation with the latest cultural trends through presence in the country, in addition to expanding the teacher’s knowledge of teaching materials and methodologies. Training courses from two days to two months can be fully funded.
