Spanish Teacher

How long have you been teaching for and how long for Cactus?

I am specialised in adult learning and I have been teaching Spanish since October 2011. I have worked as a Spanish teacher in Manchester for Cactus since January 2014! I have taught Evening courses, Skype lessons and corporate training courses. I teach Spanish at the Cactus centre in Manchester.

How long have you been living in the UK?

I have lived in the vibrant city of Manchester since September 2010 and I also did my year abroad in Sheffield from 2008 to 2009.

Where were you born and what is the city famous for?

I come from Saragossa, a city in the north-east of Spain. I am always astonished by its beauty, I love strolling around its streets (even if I have done it a million times!) and admiring the old buildings. The most famous landmark is its unique cathedral ‘El Pilar’ and the food never lets anyone down!

What is your degree and teaching experience?

I hold a five-year degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Saragossa. I have also completed two Master’s degrees: MA in Linguistics by the University of Manchester and MA in Teaching Languages by the Valencian International University. I have also taken two courses for teaching Spanish as a foreign language at Instituto Cervantes and at University of La Rioja. Throughout my teaching career, I have delivered numerous courses: General Spanish, Holiday Spanish, Business Spanish, Preparation for DELE Exams, University courses, Conversation Spanish and Spanish Online courses, from beginners (A1) to advanced level (C2).

Have you ever worked in another field?

No, I was trapped by languages since I was a child and my hobby became my profession. There is nothing else that I would enjoy more than teaching Spanish!

What is your strength as a teacher?

I am able to adapt to suit every student’s individual needs and ensure they have as much support as they require. I have a relaxed yet highly efficient approach to teaching and I teach in an enjoyable and effective way!

I look forward to meeting you and seeing you in one of my courses!
¡Hasta pronto!

Frequently asked questions

What will I learn?

Our Course Outlines give an overview of the content and learning framework of Cactus courses. Includes themes, grammar and vocabulary you can typically expect to cover. These are intended as a guide only. Language teachers may at times adapt the course content to suit the specific level, aims and interests of the class.

How do I know what level I am?

Are you unsure where to start or progress to? Then take our level test and read our level descriptions for guidance.

Do I receive a qualification or certificate?

At the end of your course you receive a certificate of participation. You will be able to be download it from your MyCactus account. This confirms the language and level of course you have taken. Our course levels are based on two internationally recognised systems. You will have a universally accepted reference for your studies. (Important: Please note that you must complete the end of course questionnaire sent to you to be able to get your certificate! You will receive the course questionnaire by e-mail at the end of your course.)

Do I need a course book?

You will need a course book to attend your course. Course books are not included in the course fees. We recommend that you buy your own course book separately before your course starts. We will let you know which course book you will require and advise where you can purchase this. Please note that a course book often covers more than one level. So if you progress to the next course, you may not necessarily need to buy a new book. Again, we will advise you of this at the time. The course book is chosen by our teachers and academic team. This is based on which book is most suitable for the level of the class whilst offering the most communicative approach.
