Norwegian is the official language of Norway and it is spoken by almost 5 million people. Most Norwegian speakers live in Norway but you will often find Norwegians outside of their country as the love to travel. Learn Norwegian and you will also gain a good understanding of Swedish and Danish, which are mutually intelligible. Norwegian itself has two official forms: Norwegian Bokmål and Norwegian Nynorsk. Although Norwegians are educated in both, Norwegian Bokmål enjoys much more widespread usage in formal writing, while Norwegian Nynorsk tends to be more informal. Taking one of Cactus’ evening Norwegian courses will teach you the Norwegian you need to know to get around Norway, communicate with the locals and understand this fascinating Scandinavian culture.
