We also offer One-Week Online Courses if you want to develop your language skills and cover the same content in a shorter amount of time. Online Language Courses Key Facts

Frequency: 20 hours in total. Options – 10 weeks (2 hours, once a week), 5 weeks (2 hours, twice a week),
1 week (4 hours, 5 days a week – selected languages)
Days: One or two weekday evenings per week (Monday to Thursday – check start date)

How Virtual Classrooms Work

Our virtual classrooms are hosted using an online platform which replicates the face-to-face environment. This allows teachers and students to interact and enjoy a classroom environment in an online setting. The courses follow the communicative approach, focusing on developing speaking and communications skills and cover vocabulary activities and grammar points on the ‘white board’, to reading task via file sharing and listening exercises.

When you receive your course confirmation (one week before the course start date), you will also receive login details to MyCactus. This is the Cactus course online platform where you can check your course information, schedule, course content, homework and also send your tutor a private message.

Online Language Courses – FAQs

When do classes take place?

Check the time and days of the classes above. Select the one you want to join and start learning a new language online.

What software and hardware do I need?

You will need 3 basic things: a strong internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and headphones. Your teacher will send you a link to join the lesson and you will need to run the online platform Zoom on your device.

Who are the Cactus teachers?

All our teachers are native speakers or have native-speaker fluency in the language they teach. They have specialist qualifications and experience in Teaching a Foreign Language to Adults.

Do I get a certificate?

At the end of your course you will receive a certificate of participation, sent to you by email. This confirms the language and level of course you have taken. Our course levels are based on an internationally recognised system, so you have a universally accepted reference for your studies. Read more about our levels. (Important: Please note that you must complete the online end of course questionnaire sent to you in order to get your certificate! This will also be sent to you by email at the end of your course).

How much is the course?

Our online language courses start from £190. The prices for the different courses can be seen above. Select the language you want to study and you can check the prices of the different options. Please check the current discount on offer before you book the course.

What happens after I finish my course?

All of our language courses are designed for long term learning, giving you the opportunity to achieve your language learning goals, whatever your level. You can enrol onto the next level to continue your language learning journey at any stage of your current course. You can check the levels here.

All of our online language courses are divided into 6 levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, Advanced and Proficient. Each level consists of 60 hours of tuition divided in 3 sub-levels of 20 hours each (eg Beginner Level = Beginner 1, Beginner 2 and Beginner 3).

How can I check my level?

What if I prefer a face-to-face course?

We also offer 10-week and 5-week courses in the UK which cover the same programme as the online courses.
